How to get recommended by ChatGPT and Google: 7 steps for companies in Serbia
More and more people no longer type “dentist Novi Sad” into Google. They ask ChatGPT: “Who should I call for…?” The assistant doesn’t look at ads. It looks at what is written about you online and how clear it is. The good news: everything that helps AI recommend you also helps on Google.
1. Your site must be readable without “magic”
Many AI search engines read plain HTML only and don’t run JavaScript. If the text on your site appears only after an animation, or sits inside an image, it doesn’t exist for them. Check it: open your site with JavaScript turned off. What you see is what the robot sees.
2. In one place: who you are, what you do, where and when
The first two sentences of your homepage should say:
- what you do (a service, not a slogan),
- in which city or area,
- how to reach you (phone, Viber, address),
- your opening hours.
Assistants recommend companies they have clear, verifiable facts about. “The best service in town” is not a fact. “Pellet boiler repair in Čačak, same-day visits” is.
3. Structured data (schema)
A short description of your company is added to the site’s code in a format Google and AI understand: name, address, phone, hours, services, prices. Visitors don’t see it, but robots read it without guessing. Frequently asked questions go there too.
4. Your Google Business Profile (Maps)
For local services, Google Maps is often more important than the website itself. Fill in everything: category, services, photos, hours, a link to the site. Reply to reviews. The same name, address and phone number must appear on the site, on the map and on social media.
5. Let AI crawlers in
Some sites accidentally block crawlers such as GPTBot (ChatGPT), ClaudeBot or PerplexityBot in their robots.txt file. Block them, and those services can’t cite you. Also check llms.txt: a short description of your company for language models.
6. Answer the questions clients actually ask
Write a page of questions and answers: prices, timelines, what’s included, how to pay. People ask ChatGPT the very same questions. If the answer is clearly written on your site, the assistant is more likely to use yours.
7. A site in your clients’ languages
Many people in Serbia look for services in Russian or English. A separate page for each language, with correct language tags, brings in clients your competitors never see.
How to check where you stand
Ask ChatGPT or Perplexity what your client would ask: “Who does [your service] in [your city]?” If you’re not there, look at which companies it names and what they have on their sites that you don’t.
